California drivers permit form?

My mom and I were filling out the drivers application to go get my permit, and we came across the spot that needed my parents signatures. Do both my patents have to sign the application in order for me to get my permit? I would like to know because I want to go get it today but my dad is at work right now so he won't be able to sign it.
