Why do people and even professional articles say "film" when you make a video using digital cameras?

Like many words in the English language, meanings change while the actual word and spelling doesn't. Film is just a convenient way of describing the process. How would you say it? Digitally capturing the live concerts? It's nothing more than an old word taking on new life and a slightly different meaning.
