My guess is that paxil does a more stable, regulated release of serotonin. Ecstasy on the other hand probably hits all your serotonin reserves at once, that's why you feel so great on it that quickly. E can be problematic as some people get use to that massive high and over time, with frequent use, have a harder time feeling happy about themselves. Brain chemistry is a delicate subject, I would stick with the paxil and listen to your doctor. Good luck.
